Charles ODellCharles ODell specializes in Aircraft Management and Air Charter at Business Aviation Solutions and is a welcome addition to the team.  Charlie has spent the last 28 years building diverse businesses that include FAA Part 91 private jet operations, Part 121 air carriers, and Part 135 charter flight operations.  He has over 14,000 hours of flight time in numerous jet aircraft and maintains currency on two types of large cabin, intercontinental business jets.  Charlie has been appointed by the Federal Aviation Administration a designated check airman on multiple aircraft.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from California Coast University, and his experience as an Aviation Director for both large and small flight departments has enabled him to tailor his leadership skills to meet the needs of any sized organization that he works with.  Charlie serves on the Board of Governors for the prestigious Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF), and for the last fourteen years has helped lead the industry’s Safety Management Systems initiative.  Charlie has led or assisted on over 30 audits from the industry’s top firms, and a commitment to safety is always one of his first goals in structuring flight departments.

Charlie began his aviation career as a Flight Instructor (a rating he still holds today) before working his way through the ranks as a cargo pilot and Air Attack pilot for the U.S. Forest Service.  He soon followed his dream of flying jet aircraft around the world with three private jet operators before joining an airline in the midwest where he flew MD-80 and Boeing-737 series aircraft.  With the airline he served in a leadership role as a captain, training and checking the company’s line pilots.

Charlie then took on the challenge with a new company seeking to add a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate to their business plan, leading the team that was awarded a World Wide Air Carrier Certificate and serving as the Captain on the validation flights for the certificate.  During his fourteen-year tenure here he served in roles of increasing responsibility as the Chief Pilot, Director of Operations and then Vice-President of Operations.
